Cassandra Clare: The Mortal Instruments: 1,2,3 Review.

Okay so I have to be honest... I didn't read the first book! I know I should be ashamed and struck by lightning and die...
But, I watched the movie of the first book and I really liked it... So I decided I wanted to start reading all the books but my motivation at that day was kind of low so I ended up starting with book 2 City of Ashes.
The problem I  had was that I didn't understand a lot of parts because (suprise?) the movie changed a lot of things. But me being the nub I always am decided to just keep reading.

I loved the book! But all the while I wanted to scream at the main characters because I knew something they didn't and it was so BIG in the book and AARGH FRUSTRATIONS!!!
Anyway what's pro?
It's really easy to read... Like maybe not as if the author uses really easy language but more like you want to keep reading it and you feel like you don't have to force yourself to read it?
Another pro is that Clary is one of those characters everyone can relate to. As the story continues you just feel like you get more and more of a connection with her. And yes, the awefull envy and wishing you were her. Or maybe that's just me?

I don't exactly know where one part ends and the other starts anymore (once again, is this just me?).

When I was reading part two, I felt like I was waiting and waiting and waiting and waiting for something but I didn't know what and it also wasn't like the book wasn't going anywhere, I really enjoyed it.
But then THE MOMENT! I won't say what it is, but oh it was awesome.
The entire book got better. I wasn't even sure weither it could get any better to be honest. But it did and OH I LOVED IT.

So, the writting style was good, she kept the reader wanting more and it was suitable for minors (I know some of the books I read are just a tiny bit spicy) and I loved the story line. Some people say that it's the same old same old storyline but I think there are some refreshing changed and I don't think a lot of authors manage to create a world like Cassandra Clare did. It's so big and it totaly works!

Some parts in the book that I didnt specifically like were...
For one, sometimes, the book is so confusing. One point something happens and then the next something totaly diffrent and you don't really get it straight away and you have to read over it a couple of times and then think like 'oh okay so that's what happened' but you're still not entirely sure.
Another part that I didn't really like was that before an action takes place, for example a fight, you have to wait for it to happen and you get like omg get on with it already!

In the end, I loved this series and I can't wait to read the next book(s). Btw, did I mention I love Jace? I know it's a bit diffrent then usual because it's about more then one book. But I don't care I LOVE THEM ALL!!! (I'm kidding.. Or am I?)

a good 9/10 for these books as a whole.

Veronica Roth: Divergent Review

Okay so with the movie coming up I felt like I just HAD to read this book... It started off with me watching the movie trailer and going like: 'hmm, this looks like a nice movie..."
So after a while, I got myself the book and it was just so funny to see all the pieces of the trailer just come together throughout the book!

Every scene is an actual part from the book and really well remade! But, when you haven't read the book, the trailer looks like something completely diffrent and doesn't get the real story across because it's all put in the wrong context.

Let me explain the book a little bit. The book is about this girl, Beatrice Prior. She lives in a world where, because of a constant thread of war, the inhabitants have decided to change how people live by dividing them into diffrent groups, with diffrent needs and desires.
In total, there are 5 Factions, as they call it.
 1. Abnegation. They're all about being selfless and doing the best thing for others.
 2. Erudite. They're the smart people.
 3. Dauntless.  Though stuff, and overcoming fear.
 4. Amity. Peacefull.
 5. Candor. Truth.

Beatrice is originally Abnegation but feels like she can't be selfless enough. She takes the test to tell her what she is, but turns out she's capable of being more then one thing! They call this Divergent, but she's not allowed to tell anyone because the leaders of each faction want these kind of people dead.
She joins Dauntless and this is what the book is mostly about. Her journey through the initiation in this faction.

the way I saw it when I watched the movie trailer, she joined some kind of rebellion straight away because  she's Divergent. Well I was wrong...

The book was really awesome. Beatrice is a really strong character and socially a little bit awkward. It's like we're sisters already... Okay maybe I'm going a bit to fast LoL.
It's funny how, in the book you see so much that you could see in real life if you'd just open your eyes to it. There's a passage where someone says: "I want to be brave and selfless and smart and kind and honest. I don't just want to be one thing."
And then you start to wonder where you'd belong in. I noticed I immidiately thought, all people in our world belong with the Divergents because we were raised that way. But I immediately had to change my mind.
Because after all, a lot of people have a one track mind when it comes to this sort of thing.

Anyway back to the book!
I like Roth's writing style a lot, but, the one thing that annoyed me so much was that she kept jumping from one event to the other.. As if she wasn't entirely sure whether she wants to describe everything with a lot of details or not spend to much time with all of it.
this caused certain parts to be very elaborate and then others, really shortly and just like skipping days. It was weird...

The story was very well thought about and the character had an awesome personality. There are some hunky guys and a love story that doesn't dominate the entire story.
A good book worth 7.9/10!

I can't wait to read part two and know how it continues!
P.S.: I'm using the before movie book cover, now a lot of the copies will be with the movie cover!
P.P.S.: I took the test and apperantly I'm Dauntless.. Not sure I agree I'm scared of my own shadow 99% of the time xD

P.C. Cast: Devine by Choice Review.

After reading the first book in the series, I had to read the second. Simply because I can't stand unfinished series. I'm serious, I can't... It's like walking in a desert and suddenly finding a fresh bottle of water and only taking one tiny little sip of it. Impossible right?

Okay anyway, back to the book. I'm not sure what I have to say about this book. It feels like very little happening over A LOT of pages... I love Shannon though and she does make a great character and she cares so much! But the story feels like it's spread to thin over too many pages. It would've been a lot nicer to read if it'd been shorter so the time between action doesn't feel so long and start being boring.

A lot of people have gone about the forums to smack this book down saying "sex sells". That is so not true for this book. I guess that a lot of P.C. Cast readers (or atleast the ones that have read the Goddess Summoning series) expect a realy juicy book with little story line in it. I must say they probably got a little bit disapointed, but when you read the book for the story, it's a nice book and you'll enjoy it.
But as I said in the first book, you'll probably want to read it in pieces and not all at once. (Although that's not what I did, I just started in it today and read it). What I kept feeling in this book, was that it was easy to put it down. Like I was in the story but it was easy to get back out of it, if that makes any sense to any of you.

I also felt as if my bond with ClanFintan was just disapearing; People who've read the book will understand what I mean. He just sort of feels like a stranger at the end of the book.

This book was so much better then I expected reading all the other reviews on loads of websites saying this book should've never been made etc.
This book gets a 7.5/10.

P.S.: the back cover of the book totaly presented a wrong name for Rhiannon, calling her Rhiana... Should this even be possible? Seriously debating taking the points for this book down because of this....

P.C. Cast: Divine by mistake Review

This is the first book in P.C. Cast's 'Divine'-series. The book is about and English teacher from Oklahoma, Shannon Parker. She gets thrown into a magical world where all the people are images of people from her old world.
But as if adjusting to this new life style wasn't enough, she finds out that her mirror image, Rhiannon, was an absolute joke. She was a bitch to everyone and lets say that her entire guard knew her very 'personally'. She was so selfish that, when she saw an oncomming threat and realized that she was supposed to marry a centaur, she fled her world and put Shannon there in her place.

This book was magical and I just had to read it all page after page. Until a certain point in the book. About 3/4, maybe a bit more to the middle. I just needed to take a little break from the book and I did. But after that little break I started right where I left it and continued right to the end in one go.
I suggest reading this book bit by bit and not all of it at once.

The end of the book really got me interested in book 2 and 3. The cover art is really nice. Normally I don't metion this, but this time I really felt like there was A LOT of work put into it.

Besides, I never concidered a centaur as potential partner before.. Turns out they can be very.. Persuasive!!

So besides the little break I needed this book was good and made me warm for more. But I see it as a little bit of a problem for people who are less intend on reading a book to the very last page. Maybe it's more because I read when I have time to read the entire book and hate to read in little parts. People who'll read a chapter or two each day before going to bed, should be able to finish it without the little midbook-boredom.
This book gets a 7.5/10 mostly because I can't stand that I got bored halfway the book. If that hadn't been in there, this book would've had a top score.

Patricia Briggs: Moon Called Review

Okay so I read this book, expecting something full of action like the Keri Arthur books. This wasn't exactly the case. But oh boy, was I suprised!!

Mercy is so sweet and kind! She reminds me of Sookie Stackhouse (Charlaine Harris)! I have to say that there were some emotional scenes. All in all I have to say that there wasn't too much going on. Not a lot of action, romance was less than i would've liked.

But in it's own way, the book made me really warm for the followig book in the series. How? Let me tell you, I just have to know how here love life is going to develope!!
ATM I'm team Samuel but it's a very close call!
The lack of action didn't bother me because I just read it in one go, couple of hours and it was finished. But I admit that when you're a slower reader or just don't have that much time it might get a little bit boring near the end, but not near boring enough to close it and never finish it.

This is a lovely book with a diffrent kind of heroine than in most books, and it makes you want to read the rest of the series just to know what happens next.
7.5/10 for this book, looking forward to te next!

Lara Adrian: Kiss of Crimson Review

I have to say, this book was an absolute suprise. For those who read the previous book, they'll know that there's a giant war about to happen.
What would one expect to read in this book? A LOT of one on one action with the Rogues.  But that was the first suprise. There's not as much Rogue action going on in this part of the series. They play more of an indirect role (a very important one, but still).

This isn't a bad thing because this book is still full of action, adventure, "omg WATCH OUT"-moments and so much more. I  guess that if you read the book expecting to see this war blow up right away, you'll be disappointed. There's a complete story line, but like I said its more indirect.
Tess is by far one of my favourite characters ever. The fact that she's a vetranarian makes it all even better (yes I have a way too huge love for animals and it played right on the feels). But she's just so refreshing. Sometimes I feel like all the Heroines in the books I read come down to the same essential person but I can honestly say that Tess made my day.

Dante, oh god what can I say. I did not expect this! He's so sensetive and romantic! Not your usual conflicted feelings, bad ass, my way or the highway warrior. But he's still a badass when he has to be.

Oh and there's a dog (damn those feels!).

This books is an awesome, fresh, exciting, emotional, thrilling book. I presonally like this book more then the first one in the series. (Btw did I mention they're Aliens? Interesting theory right?) And it's made me warm for the rest of the books.
8.5/10 and oh so well deserved.

Thea Harrison: Dragon Bound Review

- May contain spoilers!-
This, dear readers is something whole new. You know when you're reading a story about one supernatural species and throughout the series more and more species appear and you kind of start wondering "Hey, why did no one know about them?"...
Well this book is just completely different. You start reading the book and you know from the start that there are so many diffrent species you'd have a hard time keeping up with it if you'd live in that world. And that makes it awesome.
When you read the little back info, this is part of what you'll read: As the most feared and respected of the Wyrkind, Dragos Cuelebre cannot believe someone had the audacity to steal from him, much less succeed.
Let me just tell you this is SO right. Dragos is not just feared and respected. He's arrogant and so sure nothing and no one can do anything against him or any of his. I've seen a lot of stubborn males reading Supernatural books. But he just adds the arrogance in a way that makes other authors dream.

Pia is so.. Gosh I don't know how to say it! She's like a spark of life in this book and doesn't only change the world for Dragos but for all of Wyr kind. Just wait until you get to know what Wyr she is! Other than that, I can only say that she's such a kind, get along with everyone type of person.. I wish more people were like that IRL (In real life).

This book is a definite teaser for the following books in the Elder Races Series.
It was everything I expected and even more. It's full of suprises and it keeps you sitting on the edge of your seat untill the very last moment! This being said, it's not very long to the very last moment. Dragon Bound is a very fast read and awesome for those who don't have too much free time. (Unless you get sucked into the entire series, then you'll be sitting down for a couple of hours).
There were a few minor empty parts in the book where the story could've gone a little bit faster.

This book gets a well deserved 8/10!

Lara Adrian: Kiss of Midnight Review

Okay so Lara Adrian. I hadn't heard of her untill a couple of weeks ago. I found her through the Amazon.com automatic sugestion tab...

Is this a bad thing? Yes and no. I always like it when writters put their books fully out there and I'm kinda bummed that I'm starting so late in the series (yes I'm one of those weird people who actually like to wait a couple of months for a new book, it adds anticipation and you don't get tired of the series nearly as fast as when you would read all the books in 1-2 weeks time).
And no as in, I always love it when I find a good writter out of nowhere and its even more of a nice suprise when you were a bit doubtful at first!

Anyway, back to the book. Kiss of Midnight is a good book. But I expected a little bit more... How more?
Its the first book in a serie. Its supposed to make you hungry for more and in a way it did yes because I started the second book today but I just didnt feel this immediate connection to the book that would make me go "okay, give me the next book RIGHT NOW".

Other then that I have to say that after a couple of chapters, I fell in love with Lucan Thorne and I managed to get into the book completely! I felt so much for Gabrielle...
I'm definately going for club Breedmate from now on!

There was an equal seperation between love (Lucan and Gabrielle) and war (awesome warriors vs rogue bastards).
Although I have to say that it's hard to get a grasp on how many Rogues there realy are. They say a lot but we don't meet all that many of them during the all night stake-outs.
Last but absolutely not least, I had a few weeping moments and that just made the book even better to me!

Lara Adrian I give you a 7/10 on this book and a healthy curiosity in your next books!

Keri Arthur: Full Moon Rising Review

This book is an amazing book if you want something to go through quickly. But don't expect the back of the book to tell you anything.
It's a very nice and clean description of a book that is anything BUT nice and clean. You can expect hot scenes with

Jeaniene Frost: Once Burned Review

- May contain Minor Spoilers -
So, my first time reading a Jeaniene Frost book, one might say I'm a Frost-virgin... Okay just forget I said that.

My first impression of this book was "Oh no, it's going to be a book where you're the female lead 100% of the time". Why was I thinking this? I like reading books where you're the male lead and the female lead both 50% of the time because it give me a chance to know what both of them are feeling and thinking. Like really getting inside their heads.
I was kind of scared that I'd get tired of this book around halfway because of this but I was wrong.

This book was awesome and the fact that you're only reading Leila's side made it better. Why one might ask? Okay well, Vlad is this mysterious no sharing type. Leila, doesn't understand shit about him either, like seriously she just doesn't get him. His emotions, intentions, etc.
It feels like you're getting so much more connected to Leila, because you're actually feeling her frustration which is awesome. But I have to say sometimes, the frustration got a bit too much for me, there were a couple of times that I just had to put the book down beside me, take a deep breath and just go for a walk.
This little fact actually made me wonder how much I let the book get to me, kind of funny.

All in all this book was amazing, I felt like I was missing some things because I haven't read the Night Huntress books and the Night Prince series (Including Once Burned and Twice Tempted) is actually a spin off from the Night Huntress series.
There's a point in the book where the main characters from Night Huntress show up and they have some sort of realtionship with Vlad, but I didn't know where those feelings came from and didn't really understand them.

So my advice for this book:
Read this book, it's pretty awesome. BUT get some background info about Night Huntress or read them, personally I haven't read them yet but I'm tempted to get them simply to know where the "red line" between the books is!! I'll make sure to tell you all about it if I have read them!
7/10 for this book. It was great but I feel like here and there, there are some things.

Kerrelyn Sparks: The Vampire with the Dragon Tattoo Review

- May contain minor spoilers! -

So I finally had time to sit down and read a couple of books again. I have to say, I didn't know how much I'd missed it untill I realized that I'd read 5 books in 3 days... OOPS! Not that I mind, reading good books is so refreshing!

Anyway about the book...
This was the 14th book from the "Love at Stake" series. I've read every single one of them and I have to say, always such a huge suprise!
I keep forgetting how much we don't know the main character at all untill the book comes out, I mean yeah sure you know their main tasks in the book and often their job either at Romatech or at MacKay S&I - that is for the male character - but you don't know their past, what makes them who they are now and their personality.
For the female character (often but not always) you just don't know anything at all.

I was genuinely suprised by this book. In a good way. I feel that with every book Kerrelyn Sparks just gets better and better!
Dougal Kincaid was a lot hunkier then I thought he was (from the info about him in the pervious books) and he's SO romantic!! It was also very refreshing that Leah Chin (the female lead) knew about vampires even before she'd met Dougal which - ofcourse not saying that it didn't cause any "problems" forming a relationship - was realy exciting because it gives a way diffrent perspective!
The fact that we got to meet some new angels was just mind blowing awesome.. I just love them!
(Maybe next we'll get another angel falling in love with one of the hunky vamps?! I would so not be complaining!)

As far as the story goes, it fits perfectly in with the pervious books from the series. It was well written and I felt realy connected to the story as I was reading it, like i was there going through all of it with the vamps - yes i know, keep dreaming Marie, like that's ever going to happen.. But a girl can only dream and wish!! - and I cried my heart out. Oh yes dear readers, you're in for a heartbreak reading this book!

The only thing i had some trouble with was reminding all that had happened in previous books... 14 books is a lot to remember and I felt like I was missing some major Eurika-moments...

I seriously recommend this book to everyone who likes reading books about hunky supernaturals and love! Actually, just read the entire series, it's worth every second!
8/10 on this one!
